bathtime highlights

When I got home from the mall tonight, Lily was already in the tub. She was on her belly, saying "I'm a shark, a shark wimming inda ocean." When I picked up her towel, she said "Two more minutes mama, please."

Two more minutes? Where did she learn those words? I couldn't figure it out, until just now....thats exactly what I say when she tries to get me out of bed in the morning. : )

When we were listening to music this morning on the way to Stacey's, she asked me to make the music "loud, mama." She's definitely mine!

getting ready for santachrismas

Lily is super excited about christmas this year. I wish I could've recorded her response to my explanation of santa.....she pointed to the fireplace, thought about it for a second and said, "in there?" She and I went to the obligatory mall santa last week, where she told him she wanted a baby doll bed, penguins, and blue toys. The penguin and the blue toys were her ideas, but I planted the baby doll bed a few weeks ago.....

and now, a rant:

The jerks are starting to shop.....its 6 days till xmas. People get so grumpy the closer to the holidays it gets! I can't help that they've waited till the last minute to get that super hot gadget that was in stock ALL FREAKIN YEAR and now its gone. I can't help that there are 13 other people in line ahead of them and two phone lines ringing off the hook. I also can't help that I have a job to do and that job includes asking them if they *aghast* need some help. I know they're pissed to be at the mall......but imagine being there for 54 hours a week and having to smile and make everyone happy! argh... On the upside, though, the last minute men are starting to show up too, and thats like shooting fish in a barrel. If you get a foot bath know that your husband/boyfriend shopped 3 days before christmas. If you get a magnetic dartboard wiithout a box, that brookstone sold 3 years ago, he went shopping 3 hours before christmas.

houseguest? refugee?

Here's two pictures from our attempt at a christmas card picture....

Lily helping Mom sort the christmas ornaments (don't you love the wine bottle, coffee mug, and juice cup all together?). This was about 3 hours before the power went off, only to return 4 days later.
A picture of Lily and her best buddy Amelia on a recent shopping trip. The best part of the day was when Lily was jumping on a metal shelf, singing a song of her own creation. As an old lady walked by, staring at Lily, I calmly said "Can you believe what some people let their kids do?" She looked at me, not getting the sarcasm, and said "I know, isn't it just terrible?" Um, time to leave the store.....

we're finally getting back to some type of normalcy after the ice storm. The fridge is restocked, the mail is slowly getting read, and I've started to get back on track with my holiday to-dos. This morning, while I was on the phone, Lily snuck into one of the bags of unwrapped gifts. So far she has been completely oblivious to them, but I have a feeling that will change! I turned around to her looking at me like she had found buried treasure in the form of an Elmo Potty Time dvd. Broken hearts ensued... : )
