grown up lunch.... : )

Here is Lily looking at some really big pigeons and calling them cats...

Katie and I celebrated her sons second day of real school with a grown up lunch, which she hasn't really gotten to do on a weekday in a while. Of course, we had to go to Hartford since its the only place that kids can run crazy while grown ups pretend they're having grown-up lunch... : )

Lily had lots of fun eating grilled cheese and writing on the chalkboard...and getting chalk all over her shirt. You can tell from her outfit that she was dressed as me today.....black shirt, jeans, black shoes... The funny thing is, I had on a pink shirt and red shoes! Maybe thats only funny to me...

It is amusing to think about the mother/daughter dynamics - and it's obviously something you are picking up on!

You will have such an impact on your Lily's life - how she thinks and what she does. Chris, too ... but the mother/daughter link is just awesome!

I feel like Jenni is a Mini-Me ... and even though Ashley is an enigma to me ... I can see me in her. I do understand I have a huge power of influence. Both Jenni and Ashley want me to be proud of them and they care about what I think ... even though I drive them crazy ... and we love like crazy, too!

Actually, I have the same mother/daughter feelings about Jennifer - she is my daughter ... just like Jenni and Ashley. She was our first daughter to become pregnant - Michael and I were blown away just thinking about her becoming a mother! He said, "I still remember the first time we went swimsuit shopping ... and she came out in a bikini! I didn't think my feelings about her growing up could ever be more profound ... and now this!" And when she had her own daughter ...

For that matter, Krystyna has been around so long that we share the mother/daughter connection. I know I've influenced her life ... as she has influenced mine ... and she is very indulgent of me :-)!

In terms of you and me, I think Lily has bound us together and I hope we will continue to grow in our daughter-in-law/mother-in-law/mother/grandmother roles. ... we share Lily ... and she needs us in different ways.

You don't have to dress like me :-), but we do share a love of red shoes! I can't get Ashley and Krystyna is red shoes, but you, Jennifer and Jenni are a different story - red shoes make me smile!

You girls are my daughters ... I identify with you and love you all to the very core of my soul and the depths of my heart. Your happiness is my happiness.

And the best thing is that you girls made me a grandmother ... it's a role I cherish. I'm crazy in love with these little girls. I just think about them and feel all melty ...

And maybe you don't really want comments, but since you've started this blog and there is a comment section ... Sorry if I took up too much space ...

Just enjoy your daughter - you also know how much angst goes with the territory ... as does your mother. :-)
